RRR OTT Deal: Prime Bosses Frustrated!OTT giant Amazon Prime Video had always been aggressive when it comes to acquiring post theatrical OTT rights and also the direct to OTT rights of Telugu biggies. In fact, no OTT platform orchestrated more direct to OTT releases for mainstream Telugu films than Amazon Prime.

However, Amazon Prime missed the trick by not going after RRR . The common opinion is that the OTT giant went after so many uninteresting titles and for some odd reason, it let go off a sureshot blockbuster like RRR. They spent huge money on many disasters and strangely enough, didn’t acquire RRR which showed a whole lot of promise.

It is now said that Amazon Prime hierarchy is utterly disappointed with the content acquisition model. Apparently, Amazon top chair opines that losing a highly exciting cornerstone-worthy title like RRR is a really bad move.

RRR is the kind of big event film that will most certainly pull the OTT audience. It also banks on Rajamouli’s Baahubali image, which will come in handy in the Northern OTT belt. Films of this magnitude don’t just garner impressive opening viewership but they also tend to enjoy a long run even on OTT.

There’s not a single valid reason for a deep-pocketed OTT player like Amazon Prime to not go after RRR.

Amazon management is now said to be frustrated with losing a big-ticket film like RRR to ZEE5. The blockbuster response the film is getting at the box office is said to be adding to their frustration.

Well, RRR’s OTT partners – ZEE5(Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam), Netflix (Hindi) will now be elated with the box office reception for the film and they will be raring to premiere the film on their platforms at the earliest.
