RRR turned out to be a magnanimous hit and sitting next to Baahubali 2. SS Rajamouli recently interacted on a YouTube channel, where he confessed this fact, but he said that the US audience praised RRR more than Baahubali 2.
SS Rajamouli, in this interaction, said that Baahubali was a bigger hit than RRR, but RRR received better appreciation from the US audience. He said that the number of people who commented or appreciated Baahubali 2 is very less than RRR.
It might be true as the US audience got connected with the characters of Alluri Seeta Rama Raju and Komaram Bheem more. They might have felt like they were watching a Marvel DC Superhero film. It was obvious that the imaginative action scenes in RRR also met with a great response from the US audience.
The US collections of RRR crossed $14 Million, whereas Baahubali 2 had grossed $20 Million (all versions). But it had the brand value and sequel factor going for it and pulled in Hindi audiences due to ‘Why Kattappa Killed Baahubali’.
Let’s see if SS Rajamouli-Mahesh Babu’s film can cross collections of RRR and Baahubali 2 when it releases in 2024.
