The Indian jury is under the pump now for picking some unknown Gujarati freemake film Chhello Show over RRR for Oscars. There’s a super wide rebuke on the decision.
But isn’t all over for RRR yet. The film can still compete in the general category.
The USA distributor of RRR has revealed the plan to launch a full blown awards campaign, inviting 10,000 Academy members to consider voting for the film in all categories.
“RRR” will be submitted for best picture, director (S.S. Rajamouli), original screenplay (Rajamouli and V. Vijayendra Prasad), lead actor (Jr NTR, Ram Charan), supporting actor (Ajay Devgan), supporting actress (Alia Bhatt), original song (“Naatu Naatu”), original score (M.M. Keeravaani), cinematography, production design, film editing, costume design, makeup and hairstyling, sound and visual effects. The USA distributor stated the same.
The distributor says RRR is a global blockbuster and is one of the highest grossing Indian films of all time. He vows to push RRR for Oscars for every possible category.
While the India jury’s decision might come as a bummer, the real game is about to start now with the USA distributors launching a full awards campaign. Will these attempts be successful? We will know soon.
