Maverick director Ram Gopal Varma and King Akkineni Nagarjuna’s combination is legendary. While Shiva alone should warrant that legendary status for its trendsetting qualities, the other two films, Antham and Govinda Govinda define the term cult.
After more than two decades the two are coming together for a new film. Shouldn’t there be massive excitement over it? Unfortunately, that is not the case, and that is due to director Ram Gopal Varma’s completely lost form. It actually came as a huge surprise to even the staunchest of fans when the buzz regarding the film came up.
However, in hindsight, fans have now developed complete trust in Nagarjuna who has been making very sensible and enjoyable choices starting from Manam. How much worse can the combination be compared to Ohmkar? This is the line of thinking of the fans. Also, Nagarjuna has been rejecting RGV for a very long time. He says he accepted the film only because it is sensational subject coming from the director. Given these hints and the form of the star, fans are hopeful of a decent movie at best.
The shooting of the yet untitled film begins on November 20th at Annapurna Studios at the very place Shiva started. The movie will arrive in April 2018. Let’s hope RGV makes something worthwhile that could be put beside Shiva, and Antham.
