Apoorva Lakhia, director of the upcoming much-awaited release of ‘Zanjeer’ remake, revealed his views on the film and on the lead actress of the movie, Priyanka Chopra, on a day that turns out to be her birthday. The director told media that the role of Jaya Bachchan as Mala in the 90’s original was very tough and he wanted someone who could do justice to the character for the role in the remake. He said that a bright and bubbly person was required to play the role who could counteract Ram Chara’s “angry young man” personality and Priyanka Chopra was his first choice for the role.
According to him, Priyanka is the exact description of the modern strong woman required for the movie, what with her ability to play any kind of role and still make it a huge success. The director also revealed that he always wished to work with her.
