Alia_Bhatt_Oscar_AwardWell, Indian cinema is doing well worldwide and SS Rajamouli’s RRR has a huge part to play in taking Indian cinema to next level. The whole Western media and some of Hollywood’s biggest names couldn’t stop raving about the film.

Despite Indian Jury snubbing it, RRR has been submitted in 14 major categories for next year’s Oscars. Its Oscar campaign was launched last Friday officially with a massive screening at LA’s Chinese Theatre and the response has been overwhelming.

The submission of Alia Bhatt’s name for Best Supporting Actress has come under flak because she didn’t have a significant part to play in the film.

But people who are criticizing her nomination should realize that her name in the list of submissions has nothing to do with whether Alia deserves it or not. ALL Hollywood studios do the same, even Marvel did the same with Avengers in 2019.

For your consideration (FYC) campaigns for a given film always list everything/anything that could possibly fit into submissions, and RRR is no different. The makers are just following the protocol.

Even the makers know they have no chance of winning in the best supporting actor or actress categories but still they had to send Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn’s names as a formality.

The three categories the makers are hopeful of getting into the top 5 nominations are Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Song ‘Naatu Naatu.’
