As expected, Prabhas’ Adipurush has been postponed from January 2023. It is being said that the makers need more time to come up with excellent VFX and CGI work.
But the real reason for the postponement is that due to two BIG movies Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy from the Mythri Movie Makers, Adipurush will not retain many screens in the Telugu states.
A huge chunk of collection is expected from the Telugu states for Adipurush. But if it goes for a three-way clash on Sankranthi then the collections will surely get affected in a huge way which the makers can’t afford right now.
Even though it’s a pan India star Prabha’s film, he can’t afford to clash with Chiru and Balayya as they are coming with out and out mass entertainers but Adipurush is an animiated film which may not appeal to a large section of audience going by the impression it has created so-far.
Akhil’s Agent was also announced to come during Sankranthi 2023 but the truth is the film is not even ready to be released by then. The makers wanted to grab some headlines and hype and hence they announced it for Sankranthi 2023, but the truth is that it was never supposed to have a release during the Sankranthi season.
Dil Raju’s Vaarasudu and Ajith’s Thunivu are also set for a release during the Sankranthi season which will spell doom for Adipurush in the Tamil version as well. A massive film like Adipurush needs a solo release and an open ground to collect in a big way.
As of now, makers of Adipurush are targeting April/May 2023.
