Re-Opening Theaters Not As Easy As It Appears #SaveCinemaFilm Theaters and Educational Institutions across the country will remain closed in Unlock 4 i.e., until September 30th. This has caused distress to the film exhibition sector. Some film enthusiasts were tweeting in support of Theaters with hashtags #SupportMovieTheatres and #SaveCinema since the last evening.

“If Aviation, Metro, Malls, Wellness and Restaurants can be allowed to operate, the Cinema Industry too deserves a chance,” the Multiplex Association of India is arguing. However, Exhibition sector is not very much excited about re-opening the theaters especially when the Corona Cases in the country are still on a rise.

“Re-Opening Theaters at this point of time will be a loss to exhibitors. Film business is untenable operating theaters with limited capacity and two-three shows daily. It is safe to when at least dozen films are ready to release and another dozen films are in Post-Production phase,” a prominent exhibitor says.

“Only when theaters have continuous feeding, it will be tenable to open the theaters. Moreover, only then the audience may dare to open the theaters. At the same time, filmmakers will be skeptical about lining up their films for release in these uncertain times. So, this is a catch 22 situation”, he adds.
