Ram’s ‘RED‘ registered a mixed talk and he could have actually avoided this flop tag had the makers opted for an OTT release. After a blockbuster like ‘iSmart Shankar’, the pandemic gave the makers of RED an opportunity to release on a digital platform.
Releasing on an OTT would avoid a flop because they never give away the number of views to decide if a move is a hit or a flop. Lets’ take the example of Nani’s V. Nani was convinced by Dil Raju to go for an OTT release though Nani was strong on a theatrical release.
‘V’ could have been a washout if released in theatres. Now, because of the digital platform release, there is no flop effect on the natural star. Ram could have done the same with a proper judgement of the final output of the Telugu remake of the Tamil ‘Thadam’.
But, it’s a poor judgement that led to this flop that could have been avoided. After watching a below-par thriller, no one knows why they were so confident to release it in the theatres?
