In what can be seen as a scathing attack on the ruling government, for the first time, Superstar Rajinikanth said that AIADMK could forget coming to power the next. He attacked the government for filing a petition in the Supreme Court against the orders of Madras High Court.
The issue here is the opening of liquor stores by the Tamil Nadu government, a few days. It led to people flaunting the social distance norms and appearing in large crowds at the liquor selling shops. Under the current coronavirus pandemic situation, it could be disastrous.
Rajinikanth also said that the AIADMK government should look at other means to fill the coffers. The Superstar has been critical of some issues in the past, but never this aggressive and scathing.
However, there is a segment which feels the response has come a little late. Already the leaders from opposition parties Stalin and Kamal Haasan has staged a protest and put out open requests, respectively.
It would be interesting to see how the general perception is to the reaction of Rajinikanth. Will it herald a new side of the Superstar as soon the battle of elections is going to heat up in the state? Guess, only time will tell if he has been late or on time.
