Pa Ranjith has always been vocal about his beliefs on the caste system of our Indian society, especially, speaking about the downtrodden communities. Several dialogues in ‘Kabali’ and ‘Kaala’ also had the same ideology running under currently.
The same ideology has led to the present situation when he made certain statements on Chola King that the king unlawfully acquired the lands of the poor classes of society, back in those ages.
A Hindu functional outfit filed a case against the director under IPC section 153 for trying to instigate a few communities and that might in turn lead to disharmony. The section holds good against those who wantedly provoke with the intent to cause riots.
However, he has amassed support from other liberal outfits who backed him saying he has Freedom of Expression. His arrest was stalled till the next hearing on 21st June.
