Rajinikanth 2.0 Bites Dust In China, Set To Incur Highest Loss2.0, the magnum opus of director Shankar featuring Superstar Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar is the latest Bollywood imported casualty in China. It has collected around 2 million in the first two days despite getting the widest release ever for an Indian movie.

China has become a lucrative market for Indian films. As of now, it’s mostly Bollywood which has managed to find a foot holding. Even here, there is a distinction. Only content-rich films are faring well and not the visuals spectacles and wonders made in India.

The first hint at this came through the first part of Baahubali which underperformed in China. But, that could be excused as the market was not that big then. However, even after the market exploded post the Aamir Khan impact, the second part of Baahubali also failed to entice the crowd. The biggest blow came in the form of Thugs of Hindostan starring Aamir Khan, the most popular Indian star in China. It ended up as a colossal disappointment.

And now, 2.0 is all set to beat the record of Thugs of Hindostan. Unless it picks up dramatically, its loss to Chinese distributors will be highest ever for acquiring an Indian film.
