The festival Holi has now been marked as an even more important day because it was this very first day in 1975 that the journey of Rajinikanth began in the film industry. K. Balachander summoned Sivaji Rao Gaekwad and suggested him three names to select one from for his new project. The names were Chandrakanth, Srikanth and Rajinikanth.
It may be a North Indian festival, but from now onwards South Indians have a reason to enjoy and celebrate. Since that day in 1975, it has become a tradition for Rajinikanth to meet his guru K. Balachander as token of gratefulness.
Only once did he miss out the custom due to an extremely hectic schedule, but since then he swore in front of the public to make sure that it never happens again. Thanks to their little ritual the Tamil movie buffs have a reason to celebrate the day as Rajinikanth day.
