Rajini and I don't compete anymore: Kamal Haasan

Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth are best friends for life, but on their career front they share very good competition too. However, Kamal said that they don’t compete anymore not because of age, but simply due to budget constraints of their films.

Kamal, speaking at the trailer launch of the digitally restored version of 16 Vayathinile’, said that he and Rajini used to compete every weekend during the 1980s, but he added that they have slowed down. It’s mainly because of the financial liabilities their films may put its producers in.

Kamal also remembered his friendship with Rajini and said that nothing change that. He said that both have grown together in the industry, and therefore, will remain friends for life. He says it’s very unlikely for both of them to come together on screen because nobody can afford them.

Kamal also remember the impact 16 Vayathinile had on the audiences of Tamil Nadu. He said majority believed te film would bomb at the box-office, but it turned out to be a blockbuster.
