Sridevi said that she was hurt that Rajamouli spoke about her rejection on a public platform and also said that it was her choice. She had rejected many superhit films and no one spoke against her. Her reply was apt and it was easy to buy her explanation.
When asked about Sridevi’s issue, Rajamouli said that it was not Sridevi who was criticized for the rejection, but it was he who came under the scanner after the interview in which he revealed about her remuneration. He didn’t say he was happy that she wasn’t part of the film, he meant to say that she wasn’t apt for the role.
Initially, he had Ramya Krishna in his mind. But, keeping Bollywood audiences in his mind, he thought of roping in a big name from Bollywood. When she rejected the role, he was happy that he could go back to Ramya Krishna who was apt for essaying Shivagami’s role. Sridevi is anyway an iconic actress, but all roles don’t suit her. Shivagami is one such role reasoned Rajamouli.
