SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus film, RRR starring NTR and Ram Charan was supposed to release on January 7th but has been postponed due to the Omicron scare in India. The postponement has come after a massive promotional drive by the team across the country.
So, it is very much disappointing. Films like Acharya and Bheemla Nayak would have arrived for Sankranthi even in this situation if RRR did not disrupt their plans. So, the industry is a bit disappointed and also angry with Rajamouli.
Buzz is that Rajamouli is repenting for wasting the time after the COVID second wave in the name of festival season. “A film of Rajamouli does not need a season. He should have timed it as a solo release in all languages. When the third wave subsides, he is likely to release the film without such calculations,” a source close to the RRR team told us.
Also, the industry biggies are in no mood to leave the festival and important holiday seasons for Rajamouli after this experience. It looks like Omicron has served a nice lesson for Rajamouli.
