There is an ugly trend in Telugu cinema. If a director delivers a flop to a hero, his fans might start abusing him with casteist slurs. Not so long ago, a section of a star family’s fans had the audacity to attribute the Kamma tag to Rajamouli when he tried to help Chandrababu Naidu churn out a few design models for Amaravati.
There was a similar senseless talk after Vinaya Vidheya Rama’s release, when a few argued that Ram Charan should not have worked with Kamma director, Boyapati Sreenu.
Now, there is a possibility of something similar happening with Prashanth Neel. In an interesting development, it is learnt that Prashanth Neel is a close relative of AP Congress senior leader, Raghuveera Reddy.
Neel’s father, Subhash Reddy is the brother of Raghuveera Reddy and he hails from Neelakantapuram, Madakasira, AP. Neel’s family is settled in Bengaluru. Neel is now one of the most celebrated filmmakers in Kannada cinema.
Neel is working with top stars like Prabhas and Jr NTR who hail from different communities. If things go south and any of these films flop, there is a good chance that a few senseless fans start using the Reddy tag against Prashanth Neel, saying their hero should not have worked with Reddy director. This is as ugly as it can get.
A few people on social media are already suggesting Prashanth Neel to work with Reddy heroes in Tollywood and uplift their careers.
But it needs to be noted that Raghuveera Reddy himself is a BC leader and doesn’t belong to the Reddy community. So, all the discussion about Neel being a Reddy could simply be considered as a social media creation.
