There was talk that Puri wrote iSmart Shankar character for Vijay Deverakonda but eventually the role landed up at Ram’s door. Puri denied it clarifying that he never approached Deverakonda for any role.
Actually, Ram wanted to do an out-and-out mass role and wanted Puri to write something out of the mundane stuff he had been doing. Write from the conceptualization of the hero’s role to the development of the story’s script, Ram was with the team, said Puri.
Ram too said the same in a different interview when the question about Deverakonda surfaced. Coming to Puri, the director says that he always has a pool of stories that he wrote keeping no hero in mind. He wrote many in the beginning of his career.
He used to read books and now, he doesn’t. The only thing he does is writing stories whenever he gets any free time. When it comes to writing, Puri always comes with novel thoughts, but the script sometimes turns mundane and clichés crop in.Don't MissA Faithful Recreation That Can’t Avoid ComparisonsThe theatrical trailer of Jaanu starring Sharwanand and Samantha is out.
