PS2 Pan-India Threats
Projected as a Pan-India film, Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 did supremely well in the Tamil version but couldn’t create much impact in the Telugu and Hindi versions. Now its second part is due for release in April, and speculations about its box office performance are a hot topic on social media.

PS2 is scheduled to release on 28th April to cash in on the summer holidays. Akhil’s Agent is also looking to release around the same date. Agent is hot in the trade because of its high production values, director Surender Reddy, and Akhil in a never-before-seen action avatar. If the film gets positive talk, then it might leave no chance for PS 2 to score in the Telugu states.

In the North, Salman Khan’s much-awaited Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan is releasing one week prior to PS2, 21st April, as an Eid bonanza. If the film clicks, then it will definitely impact PS2’s performance in the Hindi belts.

There are no doubts that PS2 will open to a thunderous response in Tamil Nadu, but its performance on the pan-India level is surely going to be dicey.

There are some rumors being spread on social media that Ponniyin Selvan Part 2 might not make it on the scheduled date, 28th April 2023, due to some technical and VFX issues. But the makers have clarified that PS2 is coming as per the schedule.
