Pressure-Mounting-On-Sye-Raa-As-Failures-IncreasePatriotic content movies are the flavour of the season the pinnacle of which can be seen with the sensational run of Uri – The Surgical Strike. The whole resurgence of Bollywood star Akshay Kumar can be attributed to this factor as well. And many sports biopic contain the same theme.

And yet, the same patriotic movies made in a historical context have failed time and again. It also includes biopics on legendary names, the latest of which is Manikarnika. Mangal Pandey, Veer, Thugs Of Hindosthan (involving the fight against British angle) are the other examples. The nationalistic themed movies seem to work only in a contemporary setting. When putting them in historical setup, the audience doesn’t get excited the same way. And that has become a problem for Megastar Chiranjeevi’s upcoming Sye Raa.

Already, the unit is in two minds over a pan-India release (i.e. to have a Bollywood dub). The latest result of Manikarnika made on a hugely popular iconic queen Jhansi is further making them nervous. With the past too not providing any particularly good example they are feeling pressure.

Sye Raa is the biggest budgeted movie in the career of Megastar Chiranjeevi. Surender Reddy directs the historical based on the freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy. The Ram Charan production is slated to hit cinemas in the second half of the year.
