The month of December was looked forward with great interest by everyone, particularly the trade. The box office was going through a terrible phase for the last couple of months. With multiple exciting combos set to come to cinemas in December, they were expected to bring back the audience.
It is indeed a relief for the buyers and trade is jubilant with two back to back successful films. First, it was Venky Mama which perfectly cashed in on the ‘first-mover’ advantage. And a week later, Prati Roju Pandaage arrived in cinemas and is milking the festive holiday period.
The Maruthi directorial starring Sai Dharam Tej is performing beyond expectations at the box office. The sixth-day collection of the movie was almost on par with the opening day in terms of the worth share. In the first week itself, it will be emerging as a breakeven venture for all parties.
With the weekend all set to commence, no new releases ahead, and the New Year holiday yet to come, the trade is confident that Prati Roju Pandaage will become the highest share movie for Sai Dharam Tej worldwide bettering Supreme, which collected a little above 25 Cr.
When it comes to Maruthi, Bhale Bhale Magadivoyi and Babu Bangaram occupy the top position with both doing a little above 27 Cr. If Prati Roju Pandaage holds at the same level in the coming weekend; there is a high chance of crossing the mark.
The two movies, Venky Mama and Prati Roju Pandaage have shown once again how entertainment starved the Telugu movie audience has been. Arriving at the right time did the trick in both cases. But, the question still remains, would they have done better coming for Sankranthi as initially planned by the makers?
