Despite the movies of SS Rajamouli and Prabhas coming back to back, and also Radhe Shyam not moving around (even after the RRR team’s request), there seems to be no bad blood between the two. Reciprocating the same feeling, many are trending it is not RRR ‘versus’ Radhe Shyam; instead, it is RRR ‘and’ Radhe Shyam.
While a small minority always looks to create wars between two factions, a vast majority understand that the two movies, RRR and Radhe Shyam, are not in competition. It is in contention with Telugu versions box office only. The former is a mass movie starring Telugu cinema’s top two mass stars, whereas Radhe Shyam is a romantic drama from a one-film old director.
Among the two films, as things stand today if a movie can break Baahubali 2 openings (day and week), it is RRR only. It means SS Rajamouli is in a league of his own. But, one also needs to remember the star factor here. RRR stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan.
It is only in the non-Telugu territories where there could be some parity and competition. Even here, RRR has an edge being a mass movie and a film coming from the creator of ‘Baahubali’. Prabhas has already used that card with Saaho.
In short, RRR, at least on the face value and genre, has certain advantages that Radhe Shyam lacks. It is why not many see them coming together as competition. Therefore, one can expect a healthy atmosphere around the time of release. RRR hits cinemas on January 7th, while Radhe Shyam comes on January 14th, 2022.
