In industry, there is this curse called The Rajamouli Curse and who better than Prabhas can be a case study. The star has had to wait for years after Chatrapati to score a clean hit at the box office. After Chatrapati he bounced back again with Darling.
It has been the same case with almost all the heroes who have worked with the director. The struggle to succeed has been pretty obvious as they failed to meet the standards set by Rajamouli. Coming back to Prabhas, is he falling into that curse again?
After Baahubali the star has planned a couple of films with upcoming young directors Sujeeth Sen and Radha Krishna. Working with young inexperienced directors is not a problem. The problem is what is expected from these director’s if one goes by the buzz in the industry. The makers are planning huge multi-language productions with them. Put simply, they are just increasing the risk many folds along with adding massive pressure on these young directors.
Also merely having 100 Cr budgeted projects alone doesn’t hype up a film. If that were the case everyone would be making one. The hype comes with the right director. Imagine if Prabhas has Boyapati Sreenu film as a follow-up of Baahubali? Or If he made a bilingual with Hari of Singham fame? Wouldn’t it be more exciting and worthy follow up after Baahubali?
Prabhas can always work with a new director but when the moment in right. Once he is done with Baahubali he will back in the number game.
