Ultimately, no matter what the critics say, it is the word of mouth that decides a film’s fate. The former sometimes gets it right, but the latter (the talk) is always the deciding factor. We are getting a glimpse of that with the latest release Naandhi starring Allari Naresh.
The hard-hitting drama that talks about the importance of Section 211 for common man opened to terrible numbers in the morning yesterday. While everyone appreciated Allari Naresh’s performance, the subject was a deterrent to getting the audience to the cinemas.
However, as the day progressed, the talk regarding the movie (as a whole), and Allari Naresh’s performance, in particular, grew courtesy of the people who have seen it. The result was increasing numbers with each show. And finally, the second shows across the state saw many houseful shows. It wouldn’t have been possible without an appreciation of the movie.
The morning show numbers of the second day are again encouraging. It is much better than equivalent shows on the first day. The subject is such that not many people will venture to it despite the good talk, so we have to see how long Naandhi can sustain the increasing positive trend.
Vijay Kanakamedala, a debutant, helmed Naandhi. He extracted the best performance from Allari Naresh. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar plays a crucial supporting role as a lawyer.
