Pooja Hegde Joins Her Voice for Equal PayIn the recent times, it’s ‘Bhaagamathie’ and ‘Mahanati’ that turned out to be super hits without the shouldering of any big star hero and they were entirely dependent on the heroine. Two more films in Bollywood also proved the same. No star hero and entirely women-centric movies.

Pooja Hegde has joined her voice against the pay disparity in the film industry after the two recent Bollywood releases. The latest releases in Bollywood aka ‘Raazi’ starring Alia Bhatt in the lead and ‘Veere Di Wedding’ starring Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and Swara Bhaskar in the lead are proven hits without the backing of a star hero as the main lead.

When the films are able to rake moolah entirely with girl power, what excuse can the makers give now? This is Pooja Hegde’s question on the huge difference between the pay cheques of male and female lead actors.

For example, though ‘Padmavat’ had Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, it’s Deepika Padukone who was the crowd puller. Female actors are also turning crowd pullers and thence, Pooja sees no point in continuing the pay disparity.
