There is a general notion in the industry that any actress would get extra mileage and a career boost if she gets cast in a star hero film. But that doesn’t happen always.
Pooja Hegde was relaunched in Tamil with much fanfare in Vijay’s Beast. Despite all the hype, the film failed and Pooja Hegde couldn’t create any market for her in Tamil. Pooja was hopeful that she can rule the roost both in Tamil and Telugu, but her dreams were squashed by the film’s failure.
Now, Rashmika Mandanna has been cast opposite Vijay in Dil Raju‘s Varisu (Vaarasudu in Telugu). She starred opposite Karthi in Sulthan a few years ago but that film turned out to be just a below-average fair at the box office. She has pinned all her hopes on Varisu now.
Usually, Vijay films don’t have much to do for the heroine except for some mundane dance numbers and 2-3 romantic and emotional scenes.
It will be interesting to see if she goes Pooja Hegde’s way or if Rashmika will be successful in impressing the Tamil Thambis.
The film is directed by Vamshi Paidipally.
