Ponniyin-Selvan-Censor-The first part of legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s ambitious project, Ponniyin Selvan, titled PS-1, is all set to hit the screens at the pan-India level on September 30th. The film’s theatrical trailer, which was out a few days back, received a favorable response from the audience.

Meanwhile, the latest reports suggest that the censor formalities of Ponniyin Selvan are under process. Reportedly, the CBFC members are keen to watch the film and track if there are any historical inaccuracies that can hurt people’s sentiments.

If there are any major cuts, then the makers would opt for recensoring, which would take time, and the film may miss the target of September 30th. But it seems the makers are hopeful the film will be passed and appreciated by the censor board without any major cuts.

Starring Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Shobita Dhulipala, and Jayaram, among others in key roles, Ponniyin Selvan is bankrolled by Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies banner in association with Lyca Productions.

AR Rahman is the music composer for this period tale which is made based on a novel with the same title written by Kalki Krishnamurthy.
