PS1 Run Time: Mani Ratnam’s Excuse!Legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam is returning to the big screen with his ambitious project, Ponniyin Selvan-1. The film is gearing up for a pan-India release on September 30th.

As the film’s release date is nearing, Mani Ratnam is seen aggressively participating in the promotional activities of the film.

During a recent interaction with the media, Ratnam was asked if the lengthy runtime of the film will prove to be a hindrance to the film.

In reply, Mani Ratnam asked the reporter if runtime is an issue, then how Kamal Haasan’s Vikram, which had a runtime of close to 3 hours, worked at the box office.

Films with longer run times were considered risky but of late many films like Baahubali, KGF, RRR, and The Kashmir Files proved that if the drama on the screen is entertaining, then a lengthy movie is never an issue.

In fact, epic films do need a lengthy runtime to explore the characters and genre completely to give the audience a fulfilling experience. If the content of PS-1 is gripping then the run time of 2 hours and 50 minutes will not be an issue.

Starring Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, and, Prakash Raj in prominent roles, AR Rahman has composed soundtracks for this much-anticipated period film made to glorify the history of the Chola kingdom.
