Ponniyin Selvan 2Mani Ratnam’s much-hyped Ponniyin Selvan 2 is releasing next week. The film has been certified U/A by the censor board, and its final run time is locked at 169 minutes (2 Hours 49 Minutes).

The Telugu audience has become impatient in the last few years, and any film with more than standard run time and not engaging enough is being rejected at the box office. In these times, a film with almost 3-hour runtime is a big no-no for the Telugu audience.

Ponniyin Selvan 1 did very well in Tamil, but in Telugu, it turned out to be a failure, mainly because of a lack of nativity and uninteresting narration. Now the makers are coming up with its second part, which is almost 3 hours long. Watching such a lengthy film where the characters and story aren’t relatable to the Telugu audience is a tough ask.

The lengthy runtime of PS 2 is turning out to be another big negative aspect of the film because of which its box office prospects in Telugu seem to be very scary.

Ponniyin Selvan 2 stars Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Shobita Dhulipala, Vikram Prabhu, Sarath Kumar, Prakash Raj, and others. The film has some of the biggest stars from Indian and Tamil cinema, but that is also not raking in much hype among the Telugu audience. The film is releasing on April 28th, along with Akhil Akkineni’s much-awaited Agent.
