The first-ever Telugu anthology on Netflix ‘Pitta Kathalu’ has been low on the buzz and after its premiere, there is even lesser buzz because all the eyes are now set on one Malayalam movie ‘Drishyam 2’, the sequel of Mohanlal’s 2013 blockbuster.
Though ‘Pitta Kathalu‘ has four successful directors telling their stories with an ensemble star cast like Shruti Haasan, Manchu Lakshmi, Amala Paul etc., it’s not hitting the headlines. One of the four directors happens to be Nag Ashwin who is going to direct Prabhas for his next project.
The reason is ‘Drishyam 2‘ and OTT subscribers are all spreading the word of mouth about that film on social media pages. So, ‘Pitta Kathalu’ is overshadowed by Jeetu Joseph’s directorial. There is another reason and that’s the subscription cost.
‘Drishyam 2’ is available on Prime and ‘Pitta Kathalu’ on Netflix. The subscription cost of Amazon Prime Video is way lesser than Netflix. Naturally Prime has more subscribers in the Telugu States. Added to that, Prime has been buying all big to small films and commendably increased its reach in the Telugu states.
