In a shocking and frankly sad incident, a writer for a leading newspaper The Financial Express assumed the veteran actor Kamal Haasan to be Muslim over some of the actor’s remarks that the writer perceived to be Anti-Hindu.

Kamal Haasan who was born a Tamil Brahmin is a self-claimed atheist. He has recently wondered over Indians celebrating the epic Mahabharata which a tale of ‘two family factions going to war after gambling away a woman without her consent.’ In response writer Manika Gupta wrote in her column that not only was Kamal Haasan inciting enmity between members of the two religions but was also forgetting the wrong practices being followed in his own religion that is derogatory to women. Assuming Kamal to be Muslim, the writer essentially asked Kamal Haasan to mind his own business.

Meanwhile, Twitter has come out in support of the actor even as Bengaluru-based Bharata Kranti Sena headed by Pranavananda has filed a complaint against him for his alleged remarks on Mahabharata.
