Banshees of Inisherin IndiaThis week’s OTT recommendation is The Banshees Of Inisherin written and directed by Martin McDonagh, whose last outing was the Oscar-winner Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri in 2017. The Banshees Of Inisherin exudes great comedic flair and wit despite its dark undertone.

The Banshees of Inisherin follows lifelong friends (Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson) who find themselves at an impasse when one abruptly ends their relationship. The movie is a funny yet hear touching portrait of human vulnerabilities and desires.

The film is narrated in the simplest yet unique way. It also asks many pertinent questions like, is career ambition bigger than having a great time with your idiot friend over a glass of wine? Can a friendship that has gone wrong be repaired? Or, when friends turn foes and hurt each other, can they ever call it even?

If you have enjoyed McDonagh’s previous works or if you like dark humor and unpredictable films in general, this film is definitely worth your time. It is well written, directed, shot, composed, and well enacted with a stupendous performance from Colin Farrell.
