No doubt, OTT platforms have been making the most out of the ongoing COVID situation when social distancing has become the norm of society. With theatres closed all these days, digital platforms became the only respite when even new television programs ceased.

In this scenario, The apex court of the country, The Supreme Court responded to a Public Interest Litigation and issued notice to the Centre to regulate the OTT platforms like Amazon Prime and Netflix that have been flourishing.

Due to lack of regulation, there is no censorship on the content that streams on these digital platforms. As the future of the theatres is still uncertain, the regulations on the OTT platforms seem to be inevitable.

Those makers who think that they can pass their content through digital platforms without going through any statutory body will have to think after an autonomous regulatory body is set up after this notice to the Centre and Information and Broadcasting Ministry.
