Tamil star Dhanush’s Sir hit the theaters today. The makers were so confident about the content that they held paid premieres last night.
Coming to the main topic, Sir (Vaathi in Tamil) has sealed its official OTT streaming partner.
The film’s post theatrical digital streaming rights are with Netflix. The same was confirmed with a rolling card during the theatrical screening.
Netflix had already made a big ticket project, The Gray Man, that featured Dhanush in a brief role. He is one of the very few Indian actors to feature in this English language action thriller.
Now, Netflix has bagged Dhanush’s maiden bilingual Telugu-Tamil film, Sir which is billed to be a socially relevant period drama. The film deals with the class disparity in education system.
Sir is directed by Venky Atluri and funded by Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas. It has Dhanush in the role of a teacher.
Netflix is not particularly aggressive when it comes to early OTT releases so we should wait and see when Sir will be making its OTT debut.
