Tollywood has produced the biggest OTT blockbuster in recent times – RRR. The kind of international fame and acclaim this film is getting is unparalleled and it has in a way, put Telugu cinema on the global map.
Needless to say, even Netflix wouldn’t have anticipated the kind of mass reach RRR got in the global OTT space. The film trended in top 10 positions in almost 60 countries, a feat no other Indian film could even dream of.
Amidst all this hungama, the focus is almost entirely on what Tollywood has to offer next. OTT giants like Amazon Prime and Netflix should already be laying out plans for Telugu film and OTT space.
We can expect Netflix and Amazon Prime to amp up the acquisition rate in the Telugu entertainment industry. And also, there are biggies like RC15 and NTR30, which the makers claim, are coming with global appeal and content
