Kejriwal-suicide-delhiNarendra Modi led Central government suddenly caught itself in back foot after a farmer committed suicide against the Land Acquisition Bill proposed by the Center. The incident did not take place in any nook of the country to go ignored, it happened right in the National Capital at the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s anti-Land Bill rally in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.

The farmer identified as Gajendra Singh, a resident of Nangal Jhamarwada village in Dausa, also left a suicide note stating that he has three children and had been disowned by his father due to crop damage after recent rains and hailstorm. He climbed a neem tree near the rally, tied a rope around his neck and the other was tied on a branch and jumped. National media is like a mad bull taking big shots against the Narendra Modi’s government and its Land Bill.

This incident and the extensive coverage it is destined to get in coming days will definitely put Narendra Modi on the back foot over the proposed Land Acquisition Bill. Center is gearing up to call a joint session of Parliament to pass the bill. Needless to say, the opposition parties have got the right tool to battle Modi and will keen on projecting NDA government as anti-farmer government. We will have to see how he handles it!
