After creating a virtual tsunami online among the fans (read here), the makers of Saalar have preferred a safe and sound approach. The film will release grandly in summer 2022 on April 14th, 2022. It, therefore, avoids a clash with Sankranthi 2022 movies, as speculated.
Salaar is a stunning combination that brings two pan-India names together – Prabhas and Prashanth Neel. To then bring the film in a triangular clash would be a wasted potential at the box office. It will be the case even if Salaar turns out to be the winner.
April 14th, 2022, release Salaar, a solo all India release across the languages. It is also a National Holiday (BR Ambedkar Jayanthi). There could be a Tamil film due to the Tamil New Year Holiday, but when the rest are solo, it shouldn’t be a big problem.
Salaar now gets to unleash its full potential. Imagine an action film from Prabhas coming after three years, in the combination of KGF director Prasanth Neel. And, that too after the second chapter of KGF. It will be humongous.
What it also means is the Sankranthi2022 releases locked in Telugu. Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh Babu will clash it out locally (the gully fight). Prabhas, given his pan-India stardom, will look for bigger goals nationally.
Shruti Haasan plays the female lead opposite Prabhas in Salaar. Ravi Basrur of KGF fame provides the music. Hombale Films produces the action film on a massive, never seen before scale.
