The next magnum opus of Telugu cinema, the eagerly awaited, the much-hyped RRR has locked its release date. The makers have moved the release date from July 2020 to January 8th, 2021 for the Sankranthi festival.
As we have previously mentioned, Sankranthi is enormous every year, but 2020 has been particularly phenomenal. The numbers of the two biggies were beyond outstanding. The combined collection is almost on par or bigger than Baahubali 2.
It, therefore, was no brainer for our upcoming Telugu biggies to aim for Sankranthi 2021. As many as four biggies featuring stars like Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu, Tarak and Allu Arjun were planning to arrive for Sankranthi. Some even didn’t mind competition.
However, with RRR announced now, will the same biggies be ready to compete? It is the question on everyone’s mind. Most of those biggies mentioned above could be ready for Sankranthi 2021. But will they go ahead with the plan remains to be seen?
Even with RRR, one can expect a couple of medium budget flicks to make it to Sankranthi 2021. It remains to be seen if, in place of two small to medium budgeted movies, another biggie could be accommodated. Or quite simply, everyone will give way to RRR to provide it with a shot at the biggest Telugu film of the “New Decade”.
