Two Tamil biggies, namely Thunivu and Varisu have released in theaters today. This is an elite-league clash between two top Tamil stars and the stakes are high on the same.
Coming to the OTT aspects of these two star films, they have locked two top OTT platforms for the post-theatrical digital streaming rights.
Varisu has locked Amazon Prime Video as its post-theatrical OTT streaming partner. The film will stream in all South Indian languages on Amazon weeks after its theatrical debut.
As for Thunivu, this film’s OTT rights are with Netflix. Netflix isn’t usually aggressive when it comes to orchestrating early OTT releases for its films. So, the OTT premieres schedule for Thunivu could be delayed one.
These two Tamil biggies have a lot at stake and they have to mount big revenues at the Tamil box office to enter the profits zone.
As for Tollywood box office, two biggies – Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya are up for release tomorrow and the day after – 12 and 13 January respectively.
