Sai Pallavi’s Gargi released in theaters today. The film is promoted as an intense social drama which deals with a contemporary social issue.
Coming to the point, Gargi’s post theatrical digital streaming rights are acquired by Sony Liv. The film will be made available for streaming on Sony Liv weeks after its theatrical debut.
Gargi has Sai Pallavi and RS Shivaji essaying the central roles and the film is directed by Gautham Ramachandran.
“Gargi (Sai Pallavi) is a school teacher. Her father (RS Shivaji) works as a watchman in an apartment. Their life is so peaceful and Gargi was about to get married. But a gang rape happens in the apartment where her father works and turns their lives topsyturvy. He is the fifth accused in the case and is vilified by society and the media,” the plot reads.
Gargi also appears to be a better suited film for the OTT audience. Can it strike a chord with the OTT crowd following its OTT debut? We should wait and see.
