The big announcement is here. The release date of Indian Rebel Star Prabhas’ upcoming big-budget movie Adipurush is out. It will be the grand Independence Day weekend release of 2022. It is officially releasing on August 11th, 2022.
The Independence Day weekend is one of the most lucrative release periods for movies. Many blockbusters have arrived during the same period. For biggies like Adipurush which have pan-India appeal the release period allows scoring across the board.
To those who are wondering why the announcement came so soon, it is pretty standard for Bollywood movies. Already the prominent festivals of the year 2021 are blocked by many big star flicks. In fact, a couple has done the same for 2022, as well.
Usually, the Independence Day weekend is highly competed for with multiple films locking horns. We have to see if anyone else also makes the move to arrive on the same weekend as Adipurush.
With Radhe Shyam set for 2021 summer release, and Adipurush arriving in August 2022, the pressure is on Prabhas21 (the movie with Nag Ashwin to get its timing right). If it comes in summer 2022, as the makers promises, the next couple of years would be exciting for Prabhas fans, for sure.
Om Raut directs Adipurush. It is an adaptation of Ramayan. Prabhas plays the role of Ram whereas Saif Ali Khan will be seen in the part of Raavan. The other principal casting is yet to be done.
