Two buildings in Manhattan collapsed after a huge explosion. Known till now, atleast two people were killed and more than 20 injured, with around 5 people in a critical state. This explosion happened in Manhattan’s East Harlem recently, today.
The explosion is believed to have happened because of a gas leak in one of the buildings. As per the reports, one of the residents called the gas department about a gas leak and before the truck had arrived, the explosion took place. “This is a tragedy of the worst kind, because there was no indication in time to save people”, said the mayor.
While the fire fighters were doing their best to fight the fire of and search for survivors, a woman from neighbourhood spoke about the explosion. She said that the explosion was inexplicably loud and everyone in the neighbourhood was terrified thinking it was a bomb.
The nearby railway service was suspended as debris from this tragedy landed on the tracks. Though it is well believed that a leak of gas line is the reason for this catastrophic incident, there are also possibilities of this being a bomb explosion. The New York Police bomb squad rushed to the scene to investigate.
