It looks like the Tollywood film industry has a unique way of going about things. While in most film industries, it is the choice of their favourite actors that pull in the audience, the NRI viewers of Telugu films choose to go by their preference of directors. Filmmakers like Trivikram Srinivas, Sreenu Vaitla, Rajamouli, Sekhar Kammula and Krish, especially, have a huge fan following overseas.
In this context, Sudhakar Reddy, one of the overseas distributors said that “No one knows the cast of movies like Life is Beautiful, but Telugu people, who live abroad, want to watch the movie because of director Sekhar Kammula.” In a similar vein, producer and overseas distributor, Anil Sunkara said that “People here only want entertainment and they swear by the family entertainers that these directors make. Trivikram Srinivas and Sreenu Vaitla have made a huge mark overseas.”
