NOTA-BannerThe three big hits in Vijay Deverakonda career, Pelli Choopulu, Arjun Reddy and Geetha Govindam have one thing in common. It is their music. All the three albums had beautiful and melodious music that was contemporary and urban and appealed to the youth in a big way. NOTA, regrettably, lacks the same magic.

Music director Sam CS is an emerging talent in Tamil cinema with already a good body of work. However, NOTA is not among the best he has to offer. There is an attempt, which should be appreciated, to make the thematic appeal to go mainstream, but that doesn’t happen. “Yeththara Yeththra” is the only peppy and catchy number. “Raja Raja Kula” is another in the same category. It begins excellently, but by the somehow the same appeal doesn’t hold. The rest is musical themes pieces which are alright at best.

The good thing here is that NOTA isn’t musically dependent. A good soundtrack would still have boosted its impact, but it is okay even if it isn’t. The background score needs to be terrific though. A Geetha Govindam, on the other hand, skyrocketed due to the one insane blockbuster number “Inkem Inkem Kavale”.

NOTA sees Vijay Deverakonda doing something he has not done before. He plays a young Chief Minister in the political thriller. Anand Shankar directs the movie which is going to hit cinemas in Telugu and Tamil on October 5.
