Film Industries have traditionally given more importance to film directors in the making of a film. However, recent trends have shown that film writers are no longer content to take the backseat and are now jumping into film direction themselves.
In this context, one of the leading writers in the industry, Kona Venkat says that this trend is nothing new. It is a natural progression for a writer to aspire to become a director. He stated that story writing is a primary skill in cinema. It is a writer’s idea that eventually translates into a movie. Since a lot of times, the idea gets lost in translation, the writer himself takes to directing.
Writer Koratala Siva who made a blockbuster of his debut film, concurs and says that a writer pens the script with conviction and can execute the project better because he/she understands the flow of the screenplay.
