Despite non-stop promotions by Vijay Deverakonda, his first production Meeku Mathrame Cheptha has opened to disastrous number in the US. The movie has collected a meagre 28 K for the premieres which suggest an absolute lack of interest.

The sad part here is that Meeku Mathrame Cheptha was a film aimed at that urban crowd, including the US. It was expected to be a washout in the smaller B and C centres, but the A centres and the US supposed to have better numbers. That has not happened here.

In the Telugu states too, the openings of Meeku Mathrame Cheptha has been terrible. In a couple of territories, it was a near-zero share. Only the high-end multiplexes of a couple of cities have shown decent numbers. But, they are not enough to cover the minus in all other places.

Vijay Deverakonda has promoted the movie aggressively, but it didn’t seem to have interested the targeted audience. We think it is making. Why would an audience watch Meeku Matharame Chepthe made at that quality on the big screen when it will be available online within a month?

It is no enough to come with an exciting idea. It must also be made in such a way that people should be interested in watching it on the big screen. Low-budget is not an excuse. We hope this is the lesson learnt by the first-time producer on Meeku Mathrame Cheptha.
