While the small and medium budget films are slowly moving towards direct OTT releases as theatrical releases for their films seems to be a far cry, here is one big film that is inching towards a direct release amid Corona crisis.
We are talking about Anushka Shetty’s ‘Nishabdam’ that was made with a budget of Rs. 30 crores. Going by the latest reports, online digital platform Amazon Prime has agreed to pay the amount quoted by the makers of the film.
So, it’s up to the producers of the film aka Kona Venkat and TG Viswa Prasad to take the final call whether the movie must go for a direct OTT release. This would be the first big movie to go for such a release amid a lot of debate regarding big movies going for direct OTT releases.
Once the deal is final after the producers’ call and the date of the streaming is announced, it will certainly create a good buzz. There would also be a lot of curiosity on the income of the movie through direct release and also the reception of the movie.
So far, big movies are waiting for the lockdown to be lifted. The relaxations are in place. But, people flocking to theatres will still be a threat as there is risk involved with their lives.
