As soon as the buzz regarding Superstar Mahesh Babu’s next with Vamshi Paidipally being put on hold surfaced, a lot of discussions occurred centring on who could direct the star next? And sadly, even the fans couldn’t pin down one single name, unanimously.

There is a dearth of commercial directors in Telugu cinema like never before. We are talking about directors who can handle or have the experience of handling big stars and ‘commercial’ pressures associated with it.

As it is, over the last decade and a half, Telugu movie stars have stopped working with debutants. It has reduced the options. As if that was not enough, the existing big names are out of form. It has made it difficult for someone like Mahesh Babu to pick a new project immediately.

Superstar Mahesh Babu has worked with all top inform director at their prime. A repeat of that doesn’t look fresh and also some of them are not what they were a decade ago. Among the newer lot, he has very recently worked with one, Anil Ravipudi, and he did not fail. Mahesh Babu is likely to go ahead with him for the second time, but it can’t be immediately.

It is in contrast to the younger stars from the second league. Here they have multiple options with many new names emerging every year. The problem is the proven one’s not hitting the big league. It happened in the past when Puri Jagnnadh, SS Rajamouli, VV Vinayak, etc. made their debuts. They immediately jumped to the big league and handled commercial stars and subjects. The same is not happening with the latest entrants.

It is becoming a headache for the top stars. The planning in the right combination is becoming the utmost crucial factor. Only with a correct plan, a star can make the best impact at the box office. The immense star power is of no use when it is put in incapable hands or the wrong subjects.
