Venkatesh Daggubati and Rana came together for Netflix original production, Rana Naidu, which premiered on the platform last month.
The series sparked a controversy in the Telugu OTT belt as the Telugu folk weren’t expecting to see Venkatesh in such an A-rated role that had adult dialogues and scenes associated with the same. There was also a talk that Venky, being a family hero should’ve avoided such roles.
For whatever reasons, Netflix managed to gain traction with Rana Naidu which stayed in the news thanks to the A-rated content. Also, there was a fair bit of discussion amongst the Telugu folk and that could help the branding for the show in some way.
Now, Netflix has started to cash in on Rana Naidu as the OTT giant announced the sequel for the series. The second season is to commence production soon.
While Rana Naidu couldn’t garner rave reviews, it sure could become a talking point for the aforementioned reasons. Now, Netflix is evidently trying to take advantage of the same trough the sequel.
