“Commercial things are different and involvement is different. We didn’t think of Nayantara for the character Shriya played in ‘Gautamiputra Satakarni,” said Balakrishna in a recent promotional interview for his Sankranthi release.
Though Nayan had been a hit pair with Balakrishna, the Nandamuri scion clarified that Nayan was never considered for the heroine’s role in GPS. They began shooting without finalizing the heroine. Then, Shriya’s name came into their thoughts and everything fell into place.
Roping in Nayantara would have been more commercially viable but she won’t fit into the character said Balakrishna on not considering her at all for the role. If he revives his ‘Nartanashala’, then he will take Nayantara for essaying the role of Draupadi. He feels that Shriya was a perfect choice for the role she played in GPS.
